Why Botox is Still #1!

The United States Food and Drug Administration officially approved Botox just over 20 years ago.  Botox was in the forefront of a whole new category of medicines known as neuromodulators.

Neuromodulators are medications that help doctors control the signal from a nerve to a muscle.  While Botox was first used to control eyelid spasms, researchers discovered that subsequent uses control the muscles that cause wrinkles, and the rest was history.

Since the introduction of Botox, a number of other companies have produced similar medicines, including Dysport, Xeomin, Juveau, and, most recently, Daxxify, all of which have very similar properties and with only slight differences.  Despite the competition, Botox remains the market leader and the brand that everyone knows and trusts.

Dr. Burke has been using Botox for aesthetic purposes for 20 years, soon after its introduction in the U.S.  He is also one of the most experienced Botox injectors in the state of Maine.

Dr. Burke has also personally trained and mentored the other administrators here at Maine Laser Skin Care in the use and safety of Botox until they were certified to his high standards.  Any complications with Botox are rare, minor and easily correctable in experienced hands.

Unfortunately, at least weekly, we are referred patients who have had less than desirable outcomes from neuromodulators and wish our expertise to help correct the issues.  Knowing facial anatomy intimately and long experience in this area of medicine helps us handle these cases and achieve better outcomes.

In addition to the safety and reliability record of Botox, Allergan, the parent company of this medication, is constantly performing studies that have expanded the uses of Botox beyond wrinkle management.  Botox has been approved for many more areas of facial wrinkles than any of its competitors, but is also approved for hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating), migraines, and temporomandibular joint syndrome (TMJ).

Allergan is also excellent at returning value to customers through their ALLE rewards programs.  Like other types of reward programs, Allē members accumulate points for money off future treatments.

However, Allergan frequently rewards members with discount coupons on designated Botox and Juvederm days and CoolMonth for Coolsculpting.  “Flash” coupons surprise and delight our patients upon arrival for their appointments.

All in all, for all reasons, Maine Laser Skin Care is proud to be one of the top Botox offices in the state of Maine and in New England.  We are also a Diamond level practice with Allergan which makes us one of top medical spa offices in the world.

If you have any questions about Botox and its many uses especially in the aesthetic arena, give us a call at any time.  As always, consultations are free, and we always have Botox available to treat a client if the client would like Botox on the day of consult.
