Too Young for Botox?

“Do I need to be over 40 to start using Botox?"

A 32-year-old woman who has a very stressful job and busy home life asked us this question.  She had very deep scowl lines between her eyes and very prominent forehead lines, perhaps as a result of the stress and hectic nature of her life exacerbated by a genetic component.

Even though she was only 32 by her birthdate, she related that due to her appearance, many people assumed she was much older and/or that she was angry and stressed out.  At her complimentary Maine Laser Skin Care consult, we reassured her that it is not your age that determines when Botox is right for you or not, but rather the severity of the lines caused by muscle movement.

In fact, the fastest growing demographic for Botox in both our Augusta and Scarborough offices is adults between the ages of 25 and 35.  National surveys report that 64% of plastic surgeons are seeing a dramatic rise in Botox use in patients who are in their 30s.

Everyone’s face is different, and the formation of lines can also be very individual.  Facial lines' appearance over time can be affected by many factors such as sun damage, smoking, genetics, and environmental stress.

The real question is, “Do the lines bother you?”  If they do, and a regimen of Botox injections can improve them, you will certainly look and feel better after a treatment.

If your facial lines aggravate you, come speak to the experts here at Maine Laser Skin Care.  We have two convenient locations in Augusta and Scarborough and an experienced team who will treat you well and are sensitive to your needs and goals.
