Ways To Feel Much Better Today

Contemplating the past two years of pandemic stress, we all need and want anything that will help us to feel better and get through this difficult time in history.  Although we here at Maine Laser Skin Care focus primarily on aesthetic enhancements to improve appearance and therefore improve mood and reduce stress, we want to highlight some simple, mood-lifting methods that we all can implement every day:

  1. Smile - Studies have shown that the simple act of smiling, even when you don't feel like smiling, elevates your mood and reduces stress.  If you don't like the lines produced by smiling, we can always help with Botox!
  2. Celebrate Yourself - Each one of us is truly amazing.  We have all come a long way over our lives overcoming obstacles, and we are still standing.  Celebrate how far you have come, and the road won't look as long or as daunting.
  3. Leave Your World a Little Better Than You Found it Every Day - Whether it's picking up a piece of trash or encouraging a co-worker or family member who is struggling, the simple act of doing something positive helps you as well as the recipient of your act.  Many days of these acts have a compounding effect on you and the world we live in.
  4. Be Grateful - Studies have also shown that the simple act of making a list of all the things for which we are grateful can enhance our mood and sense of well-being.  Despite all the stresses and strains of daily life in the COVID era, we all have things for which we are grateful, and people who nourish our lives.
  5. Educate, Rather Than Entertain - Skip or limit the Netflix binges and pick up a book.  Expose your mind to positive images and use your reading to expand your mind and your horizons.

We hope that our list of simple methods will make your day more positive.  One of the many advantages of getting older is that you realize you have experienced dark times, made it through them, and are stronger to face new challenges as a result.

Despite COVID extending into 2022, this too shall pass if we take care of ourselves and others. Stay safe out there!
