Micro Needling Reduces Signs of Facial Aging

For the past several years, we here at Maine Laser Skin Care have been using micro needling on patients to improve their skin texture, reduce the crêpiness of particular people’s skin, and reduce the appearance of scars and stretch marks.  We also have used micro needling in combination with hyaluronic acid (HA) and platelet rich plasma (PRP) to enhance these effects.

We have recently added radiofrequency energy to micro needling by way of our new and ground breaking Secret RF system. Combining these particular treatments has created very visible dramatic improvements in skin texture.

A new study from the Journal of Clinical and Aesthetic Dermatology confirms our experience.  In this study, 48 patients ranging in age from 39 to 67 years old were treated with 4 sessions of micro needling.

These patients were followed at 30, 60, 90 and 150 days after the first session.  At day 150, multiple areas of the face still showed improvements in skin laxity, skin texture and wrinkles.

This particular study used an automated micro needling device similar to the ones used at both of our offices, and did not use any enhancements such as PRP or radiofrequency.  The simple process of repeatedly penetrating the epidermal layer of the skin with micro needles helps to improve the most superficial aspects of skin laxity.

The additions of PRP and/or radiofrequency energy such as the Secret RF to the baseline micro needling process help to tighten the deeper dermal layers of the skin.  This process of tightening the skin at multiple levels produces a much more dramatic and longer lasting effect on the skin’s appearance.

As always, we here at Maine Laser Skin Care work to educate you on the latest in skin care technology and how it can best help you look better and improve your skin.  If you would like to explore how micro needling can help your skin in a minimally-invasive manner and figuratively turn back the hands of time, call our Scarborough office at (207) 303-0125 or our Augusta office at (207) 873-2158 to schedule a free consultation and/or treatment.
