Dermaplaning In Demand

What is Dermaplaning?  Dermaplaning is a non-invasive technique where a certified aesthetician uses a sterile scalpel to remove vellus hair on the face (i.e. peach fuzz) and the top layer of dead skin cells.

This process of removing the "peach fuzz" and tiny dead skin particles gives the skin a smoother and more radiant appearance.  The dead skin cell exfoliation alone by this method also stimulates new skin cell formation, which improves uneven texture, helps to decrease superficial scarring, and restores a healthy-appearing glow.

The removal of the vellus hair is actually painless, eliminating the trauma of waxing.  Plus, unlike waxing, Dermaplaning does not lead to the growth and development of thicker and more coarse hairs.

Additionally, following a Dermaplaning treatment, the facial skin more easily absorbes topical skin care products, making them more effective.  Dermaplaning also works well with Hydrafacials, chemical peels, and laser procedures.  Makeup also goes on more easily and smoothly.

Clients with sensitive skin can receive a Dermaplaning treatment, as it is very gentle and painlessly removes superficial dead skin cells.  Dermaplaning can be used on any skin type, with the only exclusions being people with active acne and those with autoimmune disorders.

In summary, Dermaplaning is a relatively simple procedure, but can result in dramatic improvements to the appearance of the skin.  Virtually every patient who has this treatment done is impressed with the immediacy of the improvements, and how soft and smooth their skin has immediately become.

After the world returns to a more "normal" level, even if it is a "new normal", Dermaplaning may be a good and quick pick-me-up for your skin.  This non-invasive and exfoliating treatment complements many other services we offer here at Maine Laser Skin Care to restore your skin to a more youthful and pre-coronavirus glow.
